gave him a Margiela Mask and a more fashion forward dress coat.
I just wanted to draw for fun.
Red Hood is my favorite comic book character, even though I don't currently read his comics anymore because I have my own, arguably better, take on the character.
Victory Lap Update
So Victory Lap has taken a lot longer than originally anticipated, that is because I wanted to use gaming as an effective storytelling medium, and my story wasn't quite where I wanted it to be.
I wanted to use the game as a vehicle to tell a story of struggle and as a place to facilitate my dumb jokes. After reading two books on screenwriting, I got it together. The coding I already had set, the creative part was what took the longest.
I also read a book about showing your work. So below (spoilers) is the breakdowns of the levels, the notes were written for me to read, so it might not all make sense, and I also probably omitted some things that I already knew for certain. regardless, below you can look at the story planning board and the breakdowns.
Also below are the two videos I posted on kickstarter at the beginning of the process.

Q1 2017
Q1 Thoughts:
So last Thursday I had an idea to make a quarterly newsletter. I wanted to update people on what's going on with me, my kickstarter, and life because the past few months have been quite eventful. At my job, I work on company newsletters and emails when tasked to do so and I thought it'd be an interesting format to convey a message with. So every day this week, I drew a page of this comic and decided to call it Q1. The idea then evolved, because the initial concept was kind of self-indulgent. Just me telling stories of what happening in my life, but then I had a bigger idea. If many people share their stories, I'm not self indulgent, I'd be one of many. So as I drew this, I started reaching out to other artists and creative people I know about Q2.
My Vision for Q2....
A collection of stories, illustrations, poems, paintings, and sculptures gathered into a zine.
Recounting experiences that occurred during the first quarter of 2017 (jan-mar)
Providing contemporaries stories that chronicle a specific time. I would also not be drawing them, just my portion of the newsletter.
I literally had this idea last week and decided to run with it. I have reached out to several people and I'm excited to move forward with this. If you are interested in contributing to this little idea email me at jtguilyard@gmail.com.
Happy Holidays!
What if I told you...
...that you could draw
a turkey using nothing
but your hand?
Happy Turkey Day!
You're a crook, Captain Hook!
Everybody goes through break-ups differently. I like to draw sentimental comics with Disney Characters or Superheroes. Quick comic! I had like two other styles I wanted to make this in but felt this would work best. Now back to work!
18 hours in Transit.
This weekend was a rough one, so I went on a roadtrip to take a breather.
Drove to southern Virginia, Washington DC, New Jersey, then back home.
Gotta say, I'm a great driver though.
Life & Times, Vol. 1
Hello world
I decided to start a blog to increase my online presence, as well as attach more of my voice to my work. This blog will be updated frequently with illustrations, animations, and updates on projects that I am attached to. So now that we've touched base, we can move on to the meat and potatoes.
VICTORY LAP: Update #1
The game is coming along smoothly, however, the release date has been delayed. I initially wanted to release the game alongside students returning to college, however, that goal was rather lofty. Game development takes more time than I originally anticipated. Victory Lap is being developed independently, my name is attached to it, so the project hits very close to home. The coding, the sprites, the backgrounds, and story are being developed by me, individually, and I want to facilitate the BEST game possible, not just for the generous donors but also for myself. So with that, the games August 2016 release will be delayed, but moving forward, I will keep you updated. Shirts, portraits, and download information will coincide with release.
BUT...
I wouldn't give an update without a reveal. This venture isn't entirely solo, my music man, Blake Matthew Music is composing the music for the game and has been doing some stellar work. He has done several tracks for the game, and I am proud to share the game's theme with you: Alma Mater

The Job Hunt
I was lucky enough to interview for my dream job, and "due to a high number of quality applicants" they decided to pursue other applicants. That is the nature of seeking work in the creative field, and I can't let it get me down. Art is socialism, but life is capitalism. If you're talented enough, you should have a fair shot at any career, but other applicants may not require relocating or have other useful qualities. I'll find a job, it takes time. Developing the game obviously requires a lot of time and attention and finding a job is a full-time gig within itself, but I have been keeping busy with freelance work and commissions. I have recently completed a collaboration with Penn State's STAND for STATE. I am very excited to share the project with you but you'll have to wait, it will be released in several weeks during Penn State's Week of Action. (Learn more about STAND for STATE at http://standforstate.psu.edu)
Final Thoughts
Not much is going on with me right now. Just living the dream and drawing pictures. Five years ago, I drove to Happy Valley for my first day at Penn State, and this Monday classes will begin but I won't be attending. I am excited to share what's yet to come, until then stay gold.
